Can humans get salmonella or e-coli from handling raw dog food?

Updated 5 months ago
The majority of cases where humans have contracted salmonella are known to have happened through ingestion or handling of contaminated dry or wet pet foods and treats, NOT raw meat. In fact, there is actually no known incidence of humans being infected with salmonella by raw-fed dogs or cats.

Did you know that salmonella can be found in 36% of all healthy dogs and 18% of healthy cats, regardless whether or not they eat dry, wet or raw dog food? Most pets already have these bacteria as part of their normal GI flora and would naturally shed salmonella organisms in their poo and saliva regardless of the food they consume.
